The Moscow Academy of Economics and Law (MAEL) is one of the leaders among non-governmental accredited institutions of higher education. On 23-th February 1993, by the Board of Founders decision, the Academy came into being. At the MAEL take studies currently about 8500 students from the Russia and other countries. In the course of 12 years of the activity it has graduated over 10 000 bachelors and masters in many branches of economics and law and they work now successfully in all regions of the country and abroad.
Structurally in the MAEL there are: Institute of Law and Institute of Economics, Faculty of advanced training and retraining, Faculty of supplementary education, College of finances and law, Secondary school of economics and law, Preparatory Course, 7 regional branches in Elista, Kolomna, Mozdok, Ryazan, Smolensk, Tiraspol and Voronegh.
The Institute of Law is preparing specialists and bachelors in the area of criminal, civil, constitutional and private international law.
The Institute of Economics is training specialists and bachelors in the fields of accounting and audit, finance and credit, management and global economy.
Besides the MAEL includes the Department of postgraduate master degree (9 programmes of postgraduate professional education) and two specialized degree-thesis approval commissions in the field of economics and law.
The Faculty of advanced training and retraining organizes the training of the citizens for request of the Committee of the Federal State Employment in Moscow and of other public services. The Faculty include the Section of training for the promotion standard examination Pitman Qualification and the Section of the teaching of English interpreters.
The Faculty of supplementary education collaborates with 16 secondary schools, colleges and lycees of Moscow and Moscow region. Now 650 pupils learn in the specialized advanced classes and the training at the Faculty is carried by qualified lecturers and specialists of the Academy. The pupils of these classes learn many different subjects, related to the Academy-level programmes.
The College of finances and law is realizing the programme of secondary professional education in the following specialities: jurisprudence, law and social work, economics and accounting, finances.
An eminent teaching staff of the foremost specialists in the field of economics and law has been gathered in the MAEL. They are capable to solve successfully academic and research missions in the field of economics and law at the present stage. The training process is run by 16 chairs staffed with more than 248 instructors and lecturers, the majority of them with academic titles and degrees. Among them 14 Honoured Scientists and Layers of the Russian Federation , 8 full members and corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences and of other state academies, 25 full members and corresponding members of international and foreign academies.
The library resources that are available to young people include thousands of books and scientific magazines. Students are provided with comfortable conditions of learning. The modern premises contain numerous classrooms fitted with new computer equipment. They are equipped with audio and video projector facilities, which allow to demonstrate any presentation materials with usage of multimedia technologies. Local network gives opportunity to exchange files and messages with usage of ICQ and mail correspondents. IRS functions are implemented. Each computer has connection with Global Computer Network Internet based on fiber optics link, which enables to have in use all modern technologies: video conferences, including conferences in real time format, audio transfer of information and soon.
The MAEL is member of All-Russian Education-and-Methodology Associations of economic and law. The work in these Associations contributes to qualitative enrichment of all level of the education and research activities.
The Academy is Corporate Member of Institute of Professional Accountants of Russian Federation and has accreditation as Education-and-Methodology Centre for training of professional accountants. The superior Council of the Institute of Professional Accounts delegated to the MAEL the right to the preparation of accountants to the Certificate of professional accountants in Moscow region.
The MAEL is a important center of research . Quite a number of scientific schools led by prominent experts have emerged and developed at the MAEL, covering such areas as economic theory, finance and law. The research activity has   always a priority of the Academy development. The are scientific subdivision: Research Centre, Scientific Research Centre of   Economic Security, Scientific Centre of the Human Rights.
The Academy is a major scientific Centre of the State Duma Committe for Security and realizes scientific supply of the legislative activity in the sphere of economic security. Our experts and lecturers prepared about 40 conclusions of different draft laws.
Publication of research papers is no problem for the Academy, it has right of independent publishing and produces annually about 100 titles of scientific and academic literature and collections of works by the Academy’s instructors and postgraduates.
The final year students and candidates degrees work in the Law Consalting Agency where they rendered during 5 last years a consalting   help free of charges to 5000 citizens of Moscow. In addition the Academy founded the Public reception of the Authorized for the Human Rights in the Russian Federation.
Every year competitions for Miss Academy and Miss of the Student’s World are carried out. The student’s patriotic clubs «Memory» and «Motherland» enjoy great popularity.
The Academy’s facilities for sport and physical culture are very popular among students. Our teams shown excellent performance in Moscow Student’s Games and won prizes among the students of Moscow region.
The Academy works in close cooperation with leading Russian institutions of higher education: the State University of Management, the Finance Academy under the Government of Russian Federation, the Russian Plekhanov Economics Academy, the Petersburg University of the Ministry of Interior, the Russian State University of Humanities, the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Sciences Academy, the Faculty of Law of Moscow Lomonossow State University etc.
The MAEL signed contracts of job placement for our students and graduates with 47 different establishments and institutions. Among them: the Russian State Duma and the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of Russian Federation, the staff of the Authorized for Human Rights, the Moscow Central Administration of the Justice, the Administration of Moscow South District’s.
The Academy has established fruitful partnership relations with universities and research centers in the United States, Germany, France, Poland and Vietnam.
The MAEL is the laureate of the competitions: «Gold Business-1995»,         «Five Stars-2003», «Best of the Russia-2005», «Best of Moscow -2005 », « Best of Moscow Region-2005». In this year the MAEL has received International Gold Medal award of International Foundation for Excellence in Business Practice (Geneve). In the course of the first competition « Labour Glory of the Russia» 18 our lecturers and officers obtained the titles of the laureate of first and second degrees.
The Academy is a permanent participant of the International Exhibition     «Education and Career» and obtains annually the Honour Diploma «For a Great Contribution in the Promotion of the Education». The MAEL participate annually in the international educational exhibitions «EXPOLANGE», Paris and «PERSPEKTYWY», Warsaw.
